Robot Teddy Bear Army Scavenger Hunt & Parade

Summary

A campus scavenger hunt where teams solve riddles and complete challenges using teddy bears with built-in electronics/robotics, culminating in a robotic teddy bear parade.

K-12 Learning Goals

Teamwork + playful intro to sensors, navigation, and interactive tech.

Undergraduates Learning

Build embedded robotics (Arduino + sensors), GPS/location + autonomous navigation, and end-to-end systems integration; collaborate with Theater/Dance on storytelling/design; responsibly collect engagement/well-being data with privacy and ethics in mind.

Overview:

This experience has two layers: UCSD participants join a team-based scavenger hunt that helps them explore campus resources and art while building connection and a sense of belonging. Undergraduates design the teddy bears’ embedded electronics and robotics, integrate sensing and GPS location logic, and iterate toward an autonomous Robot Teddy Bear Army Parade while practicing responsible data collection.
